A remarkable incident occurred on the Brenner motorway on Saturday when an 89-year-old driver lost control of his car. The unfortunate event passed on the third lane at the end of the Europabrücke, just before the lane narrowing came. The older man first touched the guiding rail and instead of braking, he continued to accelerate.
In a worrying moment, the driver collided with the trailer of a saddle tractor who was directed by a 39-year-old. The force of the impact meant that the 89-year-old's car bounced off the trailer and crashed into the left concrete protection wall, where it came to a stop. Despite the dramatic situation, the older driver only wore minor injuries and was brought to the Innsbruck Clinic for further examination. The truck driver, on the other hand, was unharmed.
