Common disaster protection exercise Eurex.24 connects Tyrol and South Tyrol
The cross -border disaster protection exercise Eurex.24 recently gathered around 450 emergency services from Tyrol and South Tyrol. The aim of the exercise was to simulate the emergency and to test the cooperation between the two regions. The scenario included a violent storm that led to heavy rainfall and bothered the traffic routes in both areas.
As part of this exercise, various realistic scenarios were played through. A danger gossip occurred at the Steinach train station in Steinach am Brenner, while in Ratsching's several serious traffic accidents with numerous injuries. These exercises are of central importance in order to be able to act quickly and efficiently in an emergency.
coordination and collaboration
The Euregio Agreement forms the basis for the close cooperation between Tyrol and South Tyrol in the area of civil and disaster protection. Arno Kompatscher, Governor of South Tyrol, emphasized the importance of a coordinated cooperation to ensure that the population is optimally protected in the event of a crisis. "Of course, processes have to sit in an emergency - that's why joint exercises are extremely important," he said.
Tirol's security councilor Astrid Mair also emphasized that the exchange and cooperation between the regions are essential in order to effectively master crisis situations. The exercise illustrated how important it is that everyone involved can understand their roles and communicate effectively.
A central element of the exercise was testing the processes under the Euregio Agreement, which ensures smooth communication and data transmission between the emergency services from the two countries. Elmar Rizzoli, head of the Tyrolean Center for Crisis and Disaster management, emphasized: "This agreement enables close cooperation in the area of civil and disaster protection and has proven to be indispensable during the exercise."
deployment scenarios and their implementation
The practical exercises in Steinach and Ratschings were carried out on Saturday. The danger of danger in Steinach presented the emergency services with special challenges because they had to act quickly in real weather conditions. Acetic acid had expired from a boiler wagon, and although numerous traffic routes were closed, the technology and coordination of the emergency services could be optimized.
In addition to the Austrian forces, Italian rescue workers were also integrated into the exercises, which further illustrated the cross -border cooperation. In Steinach, the fire brigade and the Red Cross worked together to save injuries and provide medical care on site. A field hospital was set up to accommodate wounded people. In Ratschings, the emergency services also experienced a so-called "mass attack on injured" scenario, which was another challenge for the coordination between the emergency services. Here it was important to bundle the various skills and resources of the different rescue organizations in order to be able to provide efficient help.
This event made it clear that disaster protection does not stop at national borders, but that a common procedure is necessary in order to be able to act successfully in an emergency. Against this background, the organizations and authorities involved remain in constant exchange in order to be able to prepare for future challenges better.
Details on this comprehensive exercise are also on various regional portals such as www.meinbezirk.at that contribute to increasing the consciousness for disaster management and preparation.
