Dornauer is subject to Höfler: Political fate in Tyrol decided!
Georg Dornauer, former deputy governor of Tyrol and the state party leader of the SPÖ, suffered a political setback at the district conference in Rum. In a struggling fight against the chair of the Innsbruck-Land district, he lost to his challenger Bernhard Höfler with 41 percent of the vote, while Höfler came to 59 percent. This defeat marks a crucial turning point for Dornauer, whose political ambitions faltered after a controversial hunting trip with the entrepreneur René Benko. Those present in the event center forum experienced an emotional showdown in which Dornauer campaigned for his merits and successes, but this was not enough to convince the delegates, like OE24.at reported.
The situation for Dornauer continues to come to a head because the new party leadership, led by Philip Wohlgemuth, had pushed against it that he laid down all offices after the hunting affair. Although Dornauer emphasized his innocence and merit, he pointed out that he feels unfairly treated and that there was "two things" in political perception. His statements are also intended to draw attention to the fact that others who were involved in similar controversy have not learned the same pressure, which reinforced the dynamics within the SPÖ in Tyrol, as also reported tirol.orf.at Höfler, who enjoys the support of the new party leadership and is also a member of the National Council, has now taken control of the most important SPÖ district in Tyrol, which will affect the political landscape in the region enormously.
