Experience Handel's Alexander’s Feast - a concert for the senses!
A musical highlight is in front of Stams when the abbey basilica becomes the backdrop for an impressive performance by Georg Friedrich Handel's masterpiece "Alexander’s Feast" on October 20 at 6 p.m. This magnificent composition, which is known under the subtitle "The Power of Music", is presented by the choir of Abbey Music and the Paluselli Consort. Handel's work, which is based on a poetry of John Dryden, takes the audience into the time of Alexander the Great and his festive celebrations after the victory over Persepolis.
The center of the action is the war hero Alexander, who celebrates an impressive festival together with his followers and his loved ones. The singer Timothy, who appears at this festival, has the magical ability to influence the feelings and emotions of those present with his music. The music changes from happy and proud moments to deep sensations such as pity and love. The Holy Cäcilia, which gives the music a new dimension, finally appears in a surprising turning point.

The performance is enriched by outstanding soloists. The Norwegian-English soprano Siri Karoline Thornhill, tenor Bernhard Berchtold from Tyrol and Bariton Julian Orlishausen were hired to enchant the audience with their voices.
