Dispute over Wiesenpark: Refrigeration and divides Breitenfurt!

Breitenfurt, Österreich - In Breitenfurt, the dispute is raging for a controversial construction project that is planning private investors in the center of town. Around 300 apartments and a primary supply center (PVZ) are planned, which has been causing excitement for months. Over 400 citizens took part in a last information event, as reported. A citizens' initiative has formed and vehemently speaks out against the project, since it not only fears the loss of the meadow, but also potential traffic problems and effects on flood protection. Mayor Wolfgang Schredl (ÖVP) defends the project and emphasizes the need for medical care and the creation of local housing. Today there will be a referendum in which the community is asked whether the entire building land should be released. However, the result cannot be politically binding.

A similar debate in Bad Herrenalb unfolds with regard to the development of the Swiss meadow. Citizens' initiatives such as “Habitat Schweizerwiese” have put pressure on the city and are calling for a comprehensive urban development strategy. At a tumultuous citizen meeting it became clear that the population still has many open questions, such as Bnn . Citizens' initiative spokesman Martin Middeke criticized that the existing concept is not sufficient and a clear strategy is missing. There is a lack of information about the exact plans, for example for the announced around 200 residential units, which many perceived as a decline. Mayor Klaus Hoffmann (CDU) emphasized the ongoing work on a comprehensive plan, but the citizens' initiative remains skeptical and demands more transparency.

The investor Bernhard Scholtes also commented on the developments and warned that the time window for the project is not unlimited. He is open to a possible citizens' decision, but sees the need for a specific construction plan for a quick implementation.
