Weiz strengthens sustainable heat supply with 187,000 euros in funding

Weiz is on the way to a more environmentally friendly energy future! With a promotion of 187,000 euros, the expansion of the local biomass network is now going on. The funds will be the funds of the Weizberg Biomasseheizwerk. Gen.mbh provided so that a new wooden goods kettle can be installed here and the existing network can be expanded by impressive 1300 route meters.

This measure enables 27 new customers, including private households and public and commercial institutions, to benefit from local heat in the future. The step is not only a progress for Weiz, but also a rail breaker in the fight against fossil fuels.

The state government has provided a total of 1.3 million euros for various local heating projects in Styria as part of a current sponsorship wave. Ursula Lackner, the responsible state councilor, emphasized that the energy crisis, especially triggered by the Ukraine War, showed how important it is to get away from fossil fuels. "We as the state government do everything we can to implement this change quickly," said Lackner.

In total, almost nine million euros have been invested in the expansion of the biomass-up and district heating networks since summer 2023. The new funding in Weiz not only benefits climate protection, but also ensure reliable and sustainable heat supply that has a long -term positive effects on the environment.

In Albersdorf-Pruche, about 1.38 million euros for the construction of local heat supply systems for the BWG Biomasse district heating GmbH and the Rodler Metallbau company.
