Stella prices 2024: Young talents inspire at the theater spectacle in Villach
On Friday evening, November 22nd, the 18th awarding of the Stella prices for the Theater for Young Audience was celebrated in the new stage. These awards, which are the first of its kind in Austria, honor outstanding productions in the field of children's and youth theater. This year, the coveted prizes were awarded to two special productions: "Hands" of Theater.Nuu and Wuk in Vienna was awarded "outstanding production for children", while the play "forgetting" of the Weiz theater factory received the price for "outstanding production for young people".
The Stella Prize has been awarded since 2007 and has established itself as an important marker for high-quality theater work for young spectators. For this year's award, a four -person jury has seen 126 productions from all over Austria, from which 24 nominations emerged. These included not only theater groups and festivals, but also individuals from different federal states, including Carinthia, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Vienna. Particularly noteworthy are the international cooperation included in this selection, including with Uganda, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

In addition to the main categories, further prices for outstanding services were awarded. Maartje Pasman, Futurelove Sibanda and Joseph Tebandke received the Stella Prize for "Outstanding performing performance" for their work in "Kingx & Qweens" by Unusual Beengs, Dance Revolution East Africa in the Vienna jungle. For the "outstanding music", Marc Bruckner and his ensemble were awarded for the setting of "Super Zero Baby" at the music theater at Vienna. Another award went to Till Krappmann and Michael Zweimüller, who were responsible for their impressive stage equipment in "Ancestors' Gift" of Atash Contemporary Dance Company.
A special prize of the Assitej Austria was awarded to Nadja Brachvogel and Martin Brachvogel for their project "Follow the Rabbit", which underlines the versatility and creativity in the current children's and youth theater.
Stella prices are an important event in the Austrian cultural sector and not only promote visibility, but also the appreciation for theater productions that were created especially for children and adolescents. These awards show the diversity and creativity of the Austrian theater landscape and its commitment to create high -quality art for the young audience.
