New educational path at Borg Birkfeld: Innovative focus for students
am Borg in Birkfeld has been announced an exciting new development: From the school year 2025/26, there will be an additional focus for pupils that goes beyond the previous options. Director Michael Krenn-Gugl mentioned that the previous focus in music, art and design as well as information technology and natural sciences often produced only two classes with a total of around 50 learners. This prompted the school to find innovative ways to increase the attractiveness of its programs.
The decision to introduce new fields of study is a reaction to the challenges with which many AHS schools (general education higher schools) are faced with regard to their number of students. The Borg in Birkfeld hopes for this step to increase the registration and a broader educational offer for the young people.
implementation of the new priorities
The exact topics of the new focus have not yet been published, but the mission statement is clear: to better shape and promote the interests and talents of the pupils. This significant change could help the school to create a sustainable basis for future years and at the same time support the individual strengths of the students. This means not only an improvement in training opportunities, but also a positive development for the entire school community.
The initiative is in line with the trend of many educational institutions in Austria to adapt school education to the needs of modern society. "We want to ensure that every student has the opportunity to develop in a specialist area that corresponds to his skills and interests," says Krenn-Gugl. "This could also lead to us winning more students to our school."
