Bauhof in Fehring shines after 2.36 million euro renovation
The building yard in Fehring has opened its doors again after extensive renovation work. The modernized building was presented to the public in a solemn setting. The renovation costs amount to 2.36 million euros, a number to which Mayor Johann Winkelmaier proudly indicates. He emphasizes that one remained under the originally intended budget. Financial support came mainly from the state of Styria, which covers around half of the costs.
The renovation comprised significant improvements in various areas. The team rooms, offices and the machine and vehicle hall were completely redesigned. In addition, 19 car parking spaces are now available. The new green areas and tree plantations contribute to improving the local environment. In the building yard, a total of 16 employees work under the direction of Heinrich Gartner, supplemented by seven other municipal services who are responsible for the waterworks, the waste collection center and the sewage treatment plant.
sustainability in focus
An important aspect of the renovation was the conversion of the heating system to wood chips, whereby the required wood comes from the community's own forest. This shows a strong commitment to the environment. In addition, a photovoltaic system with an output of 50 kWP was installed, which will be expanded to 250 kWp in the future. This takes another step towards sustainable energy use. This is supplemented by a cistern for customary water use with a storage volume of 21 m³. These sustainable plans come from Matthias Stössl from Unikat Architecture ZT GmbH.
The building yard has a longer story; It was founded in 1981, and after over 40 years, the renovations and extensions carried out were urgently necessary, as Mayor Winkelmaier noted. Memories of the former construction worker Josef Stössl, who initiated the renovation, were also recognized. According to the conversions, the local fire brigades now have a new space available to safely store important aids for disaster protection.
solemn inauguration
The official blessing of the new premises was carried out by city pastor Christoph Wiesler, which gave the entire event a solemn note. The event was musically framed by a wind quartet of the Fehring music school, under the direction of Peter List. After the ceremony, Mayor Winkelmaier invited the residents, representatives of the construction companies, community services and guests of honor, including LAbg. Franz Fartek and the neighboring mayors Ferdinand Gross from Kapfenstein and Robert Hammer from Unterlamm, to a goulash soup. This made the inauguration for a social event for everyone involved who strengthens the sense of community.
In summary, it can be said that the new building yard in Fehring not only improves the infrastructure of the community, but also sets a sign of modern and sustainable cooperation. Further information on the details of the renovation can be found here .
