Sports success: Running Leibnitz shines on the Ötscher Trail and more

The past weekend was a sporty milestone for the Running Leibnitz association, in which twelve athletes actively participated. Four different competitions took place, which required both perseverance and competitive spirit.

The Ötscher Trail, which took place from September 27th to 29th, 2024 in the picturesque Ötscher-Tormäuer nature park, was particularly outstanding. This year the event celebrated its 20th anniversary and offers various competitions for all performance levels. Around 500 meters of altitude and a distance of 10.4 km were waiting for the participants in the autumn conditions. Among the starters, the athletes of Running Leibnitz were not disappointed and achieved remarkable results.

powerful competition at the Ötscher Trail

Three enthusiastic runners faced the challenge of the Easy trail. Despite the adverse weather conditions, which were characterized by cool rain and wind, they delivered a remarkable performance. Mario Seidl mastered the route in a time of 1 hour and 11 minutes and thus took the 25th place out of a total of 47 participants. Janine Mitterbacher grabbed first place in her age group with a strong time of 1 hour and 22 minutes. Katrin Seidl-Fischer also earned respect with a time of 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Another remarkable event, the Murecker Auerlauf, took place on the same weekend. He led the participants through the beautiful Murecker Au landscape, and the competition was characterized by a flat route of 5.5 km and 11 km. Here, too, the Running Leibnitz association was strongly represented, with seven athletes who took part in various distances. The placements were particularly gratifying: Carina Eggenreich and Roswitha Lernbeiß took third place in their age groups in the long distance.

International competition at the Lošinjer half marathon

Also worth mentioning is the 13th Lošinj half marathon, in which Stefica Kelemen from Running Leibnitz took part. This event, which brought athletes together from many countries, led the participants along the spectacular coastline of Veli Lošinj. Stefica Kelemen achieved a phenomenal run that she completed in 2 hours and 1 minute and thus won the third place in her age group.

Last but not least, the member Robert Marbler at the Istria300 bike race on September 28, 2024 in Poreč ventured to the middle distance of around 208 km. Robert completed the route with a remarkable average speed of 27.8 km/h and thus came to a respectable place 283 among almost 950 participants.
