Professional inclusion in Wagna: Billa opens doors to young people

in Wagna, Billa sets a strong sign of equal opportunities and inclusion. Eight young people with a need for support recently had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the food retail trade as part of an inclusion week. This initiative, in cooperation with the "network professional assistance", aims to offer young people a practical insight into different professional fields and to support them on their way to the labor market.

The week began with a performance by Billa by Herbert Vallant, the sales manager, and the market manager Susanne Leber. The two managers outlined the various training and advanced opportunities within the company. Furthermore, employees from the Wagnaer Markt reported on their own careers, which brought young people closer to the diverse career opportunities in the industry.

insight into the world of work

An important part of the week was getting to know the various departments in the market. After getting to know the first, the young people were divided into their work areas and received work clothes in order to create a feeling of belonging. Over the days, they learned in the areas of cash register, dairy products and shelf care. Every teenager was accompanied by an experienced employee, a so -called "Buddy", to ensure a practical introduction.

from work in the delicatessen area to shelf care, the young participants snapped many impressions and skills. This practical experience, coupled with the valuable feedback from the market manager, promoted a positive learning atmosphere. An exciting conclusion of the week was the product rally, in which the participants had to find products based on pictures, which not only had a lot of fun, but also strengthened the team spirit.

The result of this initiative is particularly gratifying: four of the young people will complete further work testing, with the aim of being taken over in an apprenticeship. This shows that the inclusion week was not only informative, but also a real opportunity for those involved.

These measures are part of the "network of professional assistance", which is supported by the Ministry of Social Affairs and includes six different offers. Starting with youth coaching to work assistance - there is a comprehensive help for young people with support needs and people with disabilities. Companies can also benefit from free advice regarding work models, which further strengthens the labor market in Austria. The entire initiative shows how important such programs are for the professional integration of people with support.
