Fatal gas exit in Trieste: Graz pediatrician dies tragically!

In a tragic incident in Trieste, a 63-year-old Austrian died of the consequences of carbon monoxide poisoning that occurred in a holiday apartment during a New Year's Eve holiday. The police are plagued by a puzzle after the doctor from Graz and his wife were found shortly after an emergency call in critical circumstances. While the fire brigade workers did not immediately have access to the apartment at around 9 p.m. on Monday, it quickly turned out that highly increased carbon monoxide values were measured in the apartment. The man was found in bed while his wife was passed out on the ground, as the "Kleine Zeitung" reports.

carbon monoxide as a fatal threat

The fire brigade used drew a drastic record: over ten other people who were in the building suffered slight symptoms of poisoning and had to be taken to the hospital, but could be released the next day. The Trieste's public prosecutor's office has initiated investigations to clarify the causes of the gas outlet. So far, it remains unclear how the fatal incident could occur, since the central heating of the house is said to have been regularly serviced. Carbon monoxide was also discovered in other apartments in the building, which raises further questions. An empty unit on the floor below could possibly be related to the incident, which is why both apartments were closed by the public prosecutor, as was reported.

The late victim was a respected pediatrician and previously headed neonatology at the University Hospital Graz. His vacation in Trieste was supposed to celebrate a happy end of 2024, but was converted into a tragedy. This is not an isolated case, because only a week earlier there was a similar misfortune near the Carinthian border when an Italian woman died of carbon monoxide poisoning because her heating was defective. Also in other incidents, such as the death of a German tourist in Sicily, the great danger from carbon monoxide, which often occurs in closed rooms as a secret killer.
