Styria: Kunasek demands asylum stop and health reform!
Mario Kunasek, who has been the governor of Styria since December 18, 2024, faces challenging tasks in a financially tense situation. In response to the tense budgets, Kunasek advocates reforming the distribution of tasks in the country in order to identify savings. Despite the restricted financial scope, he demands that the financial equalization to be revised so as not to burden the population and the economy, as vienna.at . A central point of his political agenda is migration and asylum policy, where he strives for a stop of asylum applications and emphasizes that quick procedures are necessary to avoid problems related to major quarters.
Kunasek, a leading member of the FPÖ, has also identified health care in Styria as an urgent topic and is planning a review of the project for the planned lead hospital in Liezen. In a critical moment for the cultural scene, he optimistically commented on the fears of cultural representatives about savings. According to his words, nobody has to worry that he wanted to continue to support folk culture. In addition, he questions the need for interactions between the cultural means and the new art and cultural promotion law, while he emphasizes that Styria can also compensate for the exported ORF state taxes, as wikipedia
political challenges and financial affairs
Despite the progress that Kunasek made with his party, he is not spared challenges. He is involved in investigations that affect the FPÖ Graz, since the public prosecutor's office is investigating him because of possible confidence in financial irregularities. It is believed that Kunasek was involved in the financial scandal in his former role as a state party chairman, but he decides all allegations and is ready to work with the authorities. This comes as a disruptive factor in an otherwise emerging political milieu, in which the FPÖ received 35 percent of the vote in the last state election and thus emerged as the strongest force.
