Stapelfeldt leaves Master Salzburg: Change to Graz99ers Fix!
Graz, Österreich - Paul Stapelfeldt, a self-made player of the EC Red Bull Salzburg, leaves the club. The announcement was made on Friday, April 18, 2025. The 26-year-old Stapelfeldt, who comes from the club's own offspring, has established itself over the years in the professional team and also qualified for the Austrian national team.
In his career at the EC Red Bull Salzburg, Stapelfeldt won four championship titles and completed a total of 224 missions in Win2day Ice Hockey League. He can also look back on 31 games in the Champions Hockey League. These successes make him a valuable player in Austrian ice hockey.
Change to the Graz99ers
Stapelfeldt will switch to the Graz99ers in the coming season and has signed a two -year contract there. He expressed the wish to bring the title to Graz with his new team. This underlines his ambition and the endeavor to continue to play at a high level.
The Bet-AT-Home Ice Hockey League, in which Stapelfeldt will play, has developed strongly in recent years. It was founded in 2003 under the name Erste Bank Ice Hockey League and has experienced internationalization since 2005 with the participation of teams from Slovenia, Italy, Croatia and the Czech Republic. The league has made this more diverse and competitive, also in the context of the Covid 19 pandemic, where it played a pioneering role in the game.
the league at a glance
The league, which has been operating under the name Bet-AT-Home Ice Hockey League since 2020, has created a solid basis in recent years. It is important to mention that foreign associations like the HC Bolzano cannot bear the title of the Austrian state champion. Instead, they describe themselves as EBEL champions, while only the local champion receives the state championship title. There are two different trophies: the EBEL trophy and the state champion Cup, awarded from the Austrian ice hockey association (ÖEHV).
With the change from Paul Stapelfeldt to the Graz99ers, the trend continues that talented players within the league are looking for new challenges and help to increase the level of Austrian ice hockey.
