Serious accident in Foirach: truck collided with freight train!

On Tuesday evening, a serious traffic accident occurred in Foirach (Leoben district) when a freight train collided with a truck. The incident led to locks on the ÖBB railway line between Bruck an der Mur and Niklasdorf. According to reports from the police, the truck had stopped on the tracks for previously unknown reasons. Fortunately, the truck driver was unharmed before the impact and was able to jump out of the vehicle in good time.

The collision caused considerable damage to property on both vehicles, while the exact circumstances of the accident are still unclear. According to the police, as reported by the , all emergency services are on site to cope with the location and to coordinate the clean-up work. Trains were discontinued and rail replacement traffic was set up between St. Michael and Graz Hauptbahnhof and for local transport between Niklasdorf and Bruck an der Mur. Parts of the route should be accessible again from Wednesday afternoon, while a two tracks are needed longer repair work, probably until the night from Thursday to Friday.
