The ÖBB and the Austrian Airlines (AUA) have started significant cooperation that enables travelers to fly with a single ticket within the Star Alliance. This partnership, which includes the integration of the train trip as a feeder flight, allows passengers to travel comfortably by train to Graz, Linz, Salzburg and Innsbruck without having to buy separate Tickets. "We want to offer our travelers a continuous travel chain," said Aua boss Anette Mann. Travelers can also benefit from a sustainable journey to the airport and save park costs at Vienna Airport, as ÖBB boss Andreas Matthä said. It was particularly mentioned that the ÖBB has been cooperating with AUA for ten years and has already used 3.1 million passengers in 2024.

A critical point of this new agreement is the threat of airports in the federal states.
