Heavy snowfall on Friday morning caused chaotic conditions on the streets in the Deutschlandsberg district. The temperatures were just above freezing and turned the road into a dangerous slide. Accordingly, the fire brigades in the Deutschlandsberg fire brigade association had to go on numerous missions to rescue vehicles and make roads passable again ORF Styria reported.

A particularly dramatic incident occurred in Michlgleinz, where a driver lost control of her car while trying to avoid an obstacle; the vehicle overturned and landed on its roof. Luckily she was able to free herself. There was another incident in Bad Gams when a truck slid into a gas pump, but without causing any injuries. In addition, several cars that got stuck in the Johngraben had to be towed away, and a number of trees could not withstand the weight of the snow and had to be felled.
