Fire in the stable: Die animals - High damage in Lannach!

On Monday there was a devastating fire in Lannach in the district of Deutschlandsberg in a farm building, which led to high damage to property and the loss of animals. The fire broke out at around 8 a.m. for reasons that were unexplained and was noticed by an attentive neighbor who immediately alerted the fire brigade. When the police arrived, the farm building was already on fire, and the St. Josef volunteer fire brigade immediately started extinguishing work. Despite the quick intervention, it could not be prevented that several animals, including two pigs and three sheep, were killed in the flames. This tragic balance was reported by steiermark.orf.at

Around 120 emergency services from a total of ten fire departments were on site to combat the fire. The use was difficult: The roof structure of the farm building had to be removed with two excavators to remove about 100 hay bales from the upper floor and delete them in a controlled manner. The post-extinguishing work is still ongoing and the damage extends to a six-digit euro amount. Furthermore, several machines, including two tractors, were completely destroyed by the fire. The State Criminal Police Office (LKA) Styria has started the investigation into the cause of the fire that continues. Fortunately, no people were harmed in this fire, such as meinbezirk.at reported.
