A biscuit campaign for a good cause: baking students for Styrer in need
In the region, baking becomes not only to the delight of the tastes, but also an act of charity. Pupils and teachers of the Schloss Neudorf technical school are very enthusiastic about preparing Christmas pastries for a good cause. The team led by Roswitha Walch, the headmistress, has decided to get the best recipe ideas out of the drawers and to bake traditionally and innovatively.
An important part of the campaign is the baking book by Johanna Aust, a former district farmer from Leibnitz. This accompanied the benefit campaign from the start and inspired many. "I love this baking book, it is one of the best for me. You will not only find great recipes in it, but also valuable tips," says Walch full of enthusiasm. On the traditional baking day, a large amount of cookies were made again, which are to be sold for charitable purposes.

Hilde Tropper, the head of the technical school, actively supports the campaign by preparing all doughs. The entire school community is involved in the activities. "All 171 students are active, as are all cooking instructors. It is a great community experience year after year," adds Walch. These special treats will be sold on November 30th from 9 a.m. in the foyer of the Leibnitz town hall.
But not only at the Schloss Neudorf school is baked. There is also a lot of hustle and bustle in the Burgstall technical school in Wies. Students, graduates and parents are active here and produce around 20 different biscuit variations, from classic vanilla biscuits to the special Burgstaller railroaders. "Baking cookies is exhausting and requires patience, but I like to do that for the good work," explains the student Marie. The joy of collaboration and the willingness to help others in need can be felt in the entire school kitchen.
Director Maria Haring-Weigl is pleased with how many cookies can bake the students if everyone contributes their part. The event in Burgstall, which takes place on November 29 from 2 p.m., will also include a wide range of offers such as handicrafts and culinary delights. In addition, visitors can enjoy Advent music, which increases the anticipation for the Christmas season.
These initiatives not only offer the opportunity to do good, but also promote community sense and creativity among the students. The engagement of the schools is perceived positively and rewarded by the parents and the entire community, which increases the effect of this benefit campaign. As part of it, the freshly baked cookies and homemade handicrafts can provide a valuable support for a good cause.
Whether in Neudorf or Burgstall, the schools impressively show how much joy and support can be created by baking together at Christmas time. The more participation and bring in their talents, the more they can reach together.
