A savings package meets the poor: Greens warn of social disasters!

Deutschland - The parliament's budget service published an informative analysis on the planned austerity measures of the federal government on May 21, 2025. This analysis proves that the lowest income layers in particular are severely affected by the cuts. Alma Zadic, the deputy club chairwoman of the Greens, expresses sharp criticism and describes the savings package as anti -social. It emphasizes that families, children and single parents in particular are negatively influenced by the measures.

According to the analysis, the lower 10 percent of the distribution of income in 2025 threatens real income losses of 2.3 percent, which could increase to 3 percent from 2026. In contrast, the richest 10 percent of the population will be affected by losses of less than one percent in the next three years. This leads to an unequal load distribution, which is sharply criticized by Markus Koza, the social spokesman for the Greens.

inequalities and ideas of justice

In the political discussion about inequality, the principles of justice are also discussed. These are used as the basis for the assessment of distribution questions. Different evaluation standards provide information about how inequalities are perceived as fair or unjust. Four basic distribution principles play a central role here: equality, need, performance and right. The majority of the population mainly tends to the needs and performance principles, while the principle of rights is hardly supported.

A survey in the socio-economical panel (Soep) from 2021 proves that only about 9% of those surveyed fully agree with the principle of equality, while about 54% support the principle of needs. Similar trends are shown in other European countries, with approval for the principles for needs and performance.

European perspectives on social inequality

The Europe -wide efforts to combat inequality and to improve social conditions are of central importance. In view of the high income inequality, 84% of Europeans feel affected by affected citizens and demand state measures to support. In this context, the European pillar of social rights plays an important role by trying to strengthen the right to equal opportunities for all through various initiatives, such as the guideline on adequate minimum wages.

The exchange of successful strategies to combat income relief is also crucial. The EU funds, such as the European Social Fund Plus, are used to reduce social inequalities and to improve the quality of life for all citizens. It is important to measure the success on the basis of central indicators such as the Gini coefficient and the S80/S20 income quintil ratio.

In summary, it can be stated that the federal government's emerging austerity measures are not only a political decision, but also bring far -reaching social consequences for the most strongly disadvantaged groups in society. The Greens demand a fair distribution of the burdens and a sensible consolidation of the budget, in which wealthier groups should contribute more to financing. The current situation once again shows the need for a socially just approach in dealing with economic challenges.
