Social democrats clearly at the advantage: Romania chooses a new parliament!

In the Romanian parliamentary election, a new victory of the Social Democrats is emerging. The current post -selection surveys show that the PSD is expected to achieve 26 percent of the vote, while various right -wing parties have achieved a total of around 30 percent. With over 52 percent, this turnout has been one of the highest in Romania for years, which indicates a lively interest in citizens in the political future. This reported, among others, OE24.

However, the political currents show a remarkable change. The right -wing populist party Aur was able to increase its votes from less than 10 to 26 percent compared to the last election in 2020. Despite these successes, Romanian opinion researchers warn that the surveys are to be enjoyed with extreme caution, since many voters may not want to speak openly about their votes for right -wing parties. This could influence the actual election results, as the opinion researchers of NBC News have underlined.

electoral and forecast

The government parties, which also include the liberal PNL, could find themselves in a difficult situation, especially if one takes into account the possibility of a coalition. Politologists estimate that a pro -European majority remains conceivable, possibly even a coalition of PSD, USR and PNL. This would be huge steps in a political climate that is characterized by right -wing national currents.

As in the previous presidential elections, a total of 950 polling stations were set up abroad to enable Romanian citizens abroad, whereby 17 of these polling stations are distributed in Austria. This step could be decisive, especially after the last elections in which votes from abroad had an important influence on the result, as reported by OE24.
