Ski drama in Alta Badia: Feller fights for podium, Feurstein fights!

In Alta Badia, exciting competitions of the alpine ski season are imminent. On December 22nd and 23rd, both a giant slalom and a slalom will be held on the Gran Risa. Marco Schwarz returns after his comeback in the slalom of Val d’Iere and will compete in the giant slalom. The nomination of Raphael Riederer is particularly gratifying, who, despite injury -related setbacks, showed impressive performance in the European Cup and now wants to take his chance in the World Cup. "I want to do my best and enjoy the premiere," says the excited Riederer. However, due to severe pain, Lukas Feurstein has to pause after a Super-G in Val Gardena. He fights with a hand injury that makes an intensive review necessary, as head coach Marko Pfeifer announces.

The giant slalom in Alta Badia already offered some surprising twists. Manuel Feller won another podium and finished third behind Henrik Kristoffersen, who celebrated his first victory in this discipline after a two -year break. Patrick Feurstein, who came back to the podium after difficult months, also showed great effort with a fantastic run. He raced from position 27 to 4th place, which is a personal ski miracle for him. "It's so beautiful, I can't believe it," said the Vorarlberg Euphoric. Kristoffersen, who had previously not won the discipline since 2019, beamed at the finish line and emphasized that the perfect material adjustment was crucial for his success.

Competition fever at the athletes

Feller, enthusiastic about his run, said that he had fixed technical defects over the summer and brought more routine to his skiing. "I just tried to always pace in the outlets of the steep pieces," he explained his strategy. With these measures, he won third place, despite some mistakes in the second run. His comeback after an injury in Sölden is also promising. "It is important that I get more self -confidence from running to run," said Schwarz with his 18th place.
