Safety in action: 74 fire brigade members successfully trained as traffic regulators!
In the months of April and May 2025, a total of 74 comrades of the volunteer fire brigades in the Vöcklabruck district have successfully completed a comprehensive training in the traffic regulation. This measure is intended to increase the safety of the emergency services and the road user in an emergency. The training was carried out by experienced police officers to ensure that all aspects of the traffic regulation are effectively conveyed.
The theoretical part of the training was carried out by group inspector Christian Mayerhofer and district inspector Martin Leitner in the fire brigade houses. Afterwards, the participants had the opportunity to practically implement and train what they have learned on road sections released by the authority. All 74 participants have successfully completed the training, which is an important progress for safety in road traffic.
Integration into the fire brigade practice
Traffic regulator training is a central component of the fire brigade training, since fire brigade members often take over the tasks of the traffic regulation beyond securing the site. According to NÖ State Fire Brigade Association and the state transport department of the state police department Lower Austria, this training is coordinated by police in the respective districts. The training concept is also thoroughly coordinated with the Department of Traffic Law of the Office of the Lower Austrian State Government.
Responsibility for the implementation of the training lies with the respective district fire brigade command, which also coordinates the appointment agreements with the district police command. The theoretical background and the application in practice are crucial to optimally prepare the firefighters for possible operations. These further training measures are an important expansion of basic training that focuses on securing operations.
modern challenges and training concept
Fire brigade training is crucial in order to meet the constantly growing demands on firefighters. Factors such as technological developments, increasing traffic volume and different danger potential change the operating conditions. These challenges not only require modern devices and vehicles, but also a continuous improvement of the training standards, as described on wikipedia
The training is divided into different parts, from troop training to technical and management training to special specialist courses. Regular theoretical and practical exercises are mandatory for the fire brigade in order to continuously expand and consolidate the knowledge and skills. A minimum of 40 hours of further training per year is prescribed for all fire brigade members, which shows how serious the topic of “training” is taken in the fire brigade.
Thanks to the voluntary fire brigades Redl, Pühret and Seewalchen for the provision of the premises and to the two police officers for their committed implementation of the training. This initiative not only emphasizes the skills of the firefighters, but also the close cooperation between the fire brigades and the police, which is essential for the security of our communities.Details | |
