Selenskyj: Russian offensive threatens - Ukraine defends itself with all my might!

Vienna, Österreich - Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj today accused Russia of preparing a new offensive. According to Selenskyj, there are many signs of upcoming attack operations. In the night of Tuesday, air alarm was triggered in several regions of Ukraine, especially in the east and south. Russian armed forces have already taken four evacuated villages in the Sumy region. The governor of Sumy, Oleh Grigorow, reported on attempts by the Russians to set up a "buffer zone", while the Ukrainian Air Force warned of impending attacks in the Sumy, Charkiw, Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolajiw regions. This goes hand in hand with reports on explosions in Sumy, which are near the border with Russia.

Last weekend and on Monday night, Russian attacks with drones and marching air bodies reached a maximum. Selenskyj described the attacks in which over 900 drones were used in the past three days as militarily senseless and destructive. He therefore called for more pressure on Moscow, especially through additional sanctions. Donald Trump also commented critically about the attacks and threatened to sanctions against Russia.

negotiations and prisoner exchange

At the same time, negotiations on a possible end of the Ukraine war take place. Trump emphasized the importance of a "huge prisoner exchange" between Russia and Ukraine, which has not yet been completed. The Ukrainian side contradicts this presentation and announced that an exchange of 1000 prisoners was still planned but not carried out. In another incident, a military cadet was arrested as an alleged FSB agent because a rocket attack should be prepared for its educational institution.

The geopolitical situation remains tense. While Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is trying to prevent European energy embargo against Russia, there were drone attacks on militarily important goals in Russia, including a battery factory in Jelez. In the small town of Lgow, the population was hit by a rocket attack, with 16 injuries to be complained of.

Putin's plans and international reactions

According to reports, Wladimir Putin decided to set up a "security buffer zone" on the border with Ukraine. As a result, more than 80 US senators support a draft law for new sanctions against Russia. The EU also plans to enact new sanctions to increase pressure on Putin. Experts warn that Trump's recent approaches to Russia could endanger support for Ukraine.

Since Russia's annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the beginning of military aggression in Eastern Ukraine in February 2022, the conflict herds have tightened. Again and again Russia bombies Ukrainian cities, villages and critical infrastructure - a massive attack on Ukraine, which is carried out by the use of rockets, marching air bodies and drones. These ongoing conflicts also throw a shadow on the humanitarian situation in the region, which is characterized by human rights violations and the expulsion of civilians.

The situation remains tense, and international efforts for peace and stability in the Ukraine conflict are still challenging. The increasing tensions between the warring parties and the geopolitical implications make an accepted solution difficult.
