Schwärzler in the quarterfinals - Vrac League starts with a large price!
Rothschildplatz 4, 1020 Wien, Österreich - On May 21, 2025, the Austrian Tennis Association (ÖTV) causes excitement in the area of virtual tennis. The first official VR tennis league in Austria, the Virtual Reality Austrian Championship (VRAC), was launched on May 5, 2025. The league is organized jointly by ÖTV, Laola1, Tennis Esports and MXR Sports. A special highlight is the live final, which will take place on June 25, 2025 in the Laola1 office in Vienna.
The VRAC not only offers the opportunity for players to demonstrate their skills, but also enables the tennis clubs in Austria to choose their first virtual club champion. Registration for the league has been open since April 15, 2025 and takes place via the official MXR sports website. One goal of this league is the move into the World Tennis-Esports-Championship final (WTEC), which will be held in Las Vegas on September 10, 2025.
Current tournament performance
While the world of eSport is growing in tennis, Joel Schwärzler also shines on the traditional tennis court. Schwärzler fought into the quarter-finals in the ATP Challenger tournament in Skopje after winning 6: 2, 6: 4 in the round of 16 against Marat Sharipov. The duration of the game was 1:23 hours, and the current ranking scale sees Schwärzler well in asserting himself against his next opponent, Jay Clarke, number three of the tournament. The doping of the tournament is a total of 91,250 euros.
These parallel developments, both in classic and virtual tennis, show the growing interest and diversification in sport. Where traditional tournaments can be found in space, the VRAC is becoming increasingly popular and attracts numerous participants.
The future of virtual tennis
First impressions of new tennis VR games are consistently positive. Players report on a great visual representation and atmosphere that very close to the feeling of a professional tournament. The user interface of the games is simple and clear, while the physics of the game looks realistic. This indicates that the developers, many of whom are tennis players themselves, create an immersive experience that is appealing for both players and non-players.
The game is new to the market, has already received updates and the development team is actively working to further improve the user experience. Players report a natural feeling while swinging, which almost gives the impression of ball contact. Despite minor imperfections, the game receives a recommendation for all tennis lovers.
