Schuhbeck's chocolate dilemma: only two plates left in jail!
Rothenfeld, Deutschland - Alfons Schuhbeck (75), the well -known Munich star chef, has been in detention since August 2023. He was sentenced to a prison sentence of three years and two months because he had raised 2.3 million euros in taxes. The conviction was due to a violation of the tax code, the fact of which comprises unauthorized avoidance of tax payments. Schuhbeck was initially housed in the correctional facility (JVA) Landsberg am Lech before it was moved to the JVA Rothenfeld, which is a branch of Landsberg in early 2024. However, the shortening of the detention was deprived of Schuhbeck due to a new indictment that contains bankruptcy and subsidy fraud.
The new indictment, against which another process begins in June 2024, accuses Schuhbeck, while the Corona pandemic has applied for and received illegal state aid. His lawyers report that the situation of his client has deteriorated sharply and that he now has to spend the upcoming holidays in custody without loosening. A premature request for discharge has not yet been made, and the likelihood of early release is low, since Schuhbeck is the focus of further investigations.
The Christmas dinner in the JVA Rothenfeld
In the JVA Rothenfeld, the holidays are a special topic. According to information, Schuhbeck is spoiled with a cream soup, spaghetti bolognese or Napoli on Christmas Eve. On the first Christmas holiday, noodle soup, chicken legs or fish fillet with rice and salad are on the menu. For the second Christmas day there is chicken schnitzel or vegetable spell, together with noodle salad. During the holidays, spiritual activities are offered, including an ecumenical service on Christmas Eve and a celebration with Auxiliary Bishop on December 26, in which the participating little Christmas packages receive.
Life in the prison was loosened up somewhat by a new hangover named Garfield, which gives the occupants joy. During visits to visitors, the prisoners were able to purchase chocolate and non -alcoholic drinks before, but this service was recently discontinued. The chocolate supply is now rationed, so that the detainees only receive two plates per visit, instead of the previous five.
effects of the charges and the detention on Schuhbeck
The new accusations can have serious consequences for Schuhbeck. A new conviction could have been in prison. The legal framework for tax evasion, which is regularly revealed, are punished. Finish and imprisonment can be imposed up to 10 years, depending on the severity of the offense and scope of the evaded taxes. The burden of proof lies with the accused, so that these cases are often lengthy and complex.
Schuhbeck's lawyer, Nicolas Stieger, describes him as a manual despite the severe burdens that go hand in hand with the new charges and his current terms of detention. While Schuhbeck will be 76 years old on May 2, his birthday will take place in the prison without gifts, candles or chocolate.
