Students learn compassion: a unique project on the ASO!
Kunstmuseum, Deutschland - Currently, students from the General Special School and the Archbishop's High School are experiencing a special exchange in the school project "Compassion". Here, high school students actively participate in the everyday life of the ASO and bring in their creative ideas. This initiative not only promotes understanding of each other, but also sympathy and empathy. Such a project gives the participants the opportunity to look outside the box and get to know different realities of life, which is considered an important step towards developing social skills, as Noen reports .
mindfulness and empathy in focus
As part of a workshop that takes place in the Kunstmuseum, the participant techniques learn to be mindful. Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), emphasizes that mindfulness is "not technology, but one of being". The workshop aims to integrate mindfulness into everyday life - whether when eating, communication or creative processes. Disciplines such as yoga and seat meditation help the participants to live more consciously and behave more empathetically. This exchange and active listening in a respectful environment support the teamwork and also the personal development of the participants, as the KSG Foundation reports.
A central element of the workshop is to promote an appreciative and supportive atmosphere, which enables the participants to better perceive themselves and their emotions. The trainers make sure that nobody is overwhelmed and that personal limits are respected. These experiences are part of the conscious self -awareness and experienced empathy that are essential for future managers. The next round of the “Present” program will take place in early summer 2025, and applications can be submitted from autumn 2024.
