Shock in the Gaza Strip: Guterres demands truth about Israeli attacks!
In the middle of the continuing violence in the Gaza Strip, UN Secretary General António Guterres has called for an immediate and independent examination of the latest incidents. These Fordungen come in the face of reports, according to which people are said to have been killed by Hamas in Israeli attacks on relief goods distribution centers. According to Hamas, at least 15 people died in the latest attacks in the south of the Gaza Strip, while dozens of others were injured, which further exacerbated the humanitarian situation. The Israeli army, on the other hand, states that as part of her military operations in the Al-Mawasi area in the northwest of Rafah, it opened fire to civilians, which is rejected by the Israeli side as unjustified. She explains that a first examination showed that no fire was aimed at civilians who were near the distribution centers for humanitarian aid.
The conflict continues to escalate and the reporting shows different perspectives. While Hamas spoke of a total of 30 deaths through Israeli attacks on Sunday, this number is contested by the Israeli army. A spokesman for the Israeli military said that the information was currently not independent. Guterres expressed its exposure to these reports on Platform X and described the situation as unacceptable. He underlined the commitment of Israel to allow and facilitate humanitarian aid according to humanitarian international law.
Criticism of Guterres'
The reaction to guterres' demands was violent. Israelis accuse him of not sufficiently taking the role of Hamas into account. Marble stone, an Israeli representative, criticized that Guterres did not once mentioned the word "Hamas" in his message, although this is held responsible for the violence and blockade of the distribution of relief goods. It is also criticized that Guterres failed to mention that Hamas has rejected a ceasefire proposal and the release of hostages.
The United Nations Security Council has now passed a resolution that demands the immediate release of all hostages captured by Hamas. This resolution, which came about after several unsuccessful attempts, received 12 votes, no vote against and three abstentions. In the meantime, a 10-point plan of the UN Nothilfekoordinator Martin Griffith is implemented, which provides for a significant expansion of the aid deliveries in the Gaza Strip.
Humanitarian location in the Gaza Strip
The planned humanitarian aid should be done via new and improved corridors to ensure faster and unhindered access for UN organizations and partners. Via the border crossing Kerem Shalom, one of the main transitions, more than 60 percent of aid deliveries were handled before the escalation. The need for continuous and reliable help becomes increasingly clear under the current circumstances. After almost three months of blockade, Israel has again approved aid deliveries to the hungry population in the Gaza Strip, but some are considered inadequate by some, given the enormous needs.
