Austrian health system: VAMED sale to French
Austrian health system: VAMED sale to French
In Austria there are currently major changes in the health landscape, especially for the VAMED group. Seven are now not sold out of the 21 locations that stood for sale to the French private equity company Pai for the time being. These locations also include the children's cancer facility in Pongau, Salzburg, which had already been excluded from the previous sales plans.
This decision is largely influenced by the participation of the public sector in the locations concerned. This has pre -purchase rights that it could possibly use. According to reports from the Ö1 morning journal, the Anton-Proksch-Institut in Vienna as well as locations in Kapfenberg, Gmundnerberg, Enns, Eggenburg and the rehabilitation clinic in Gars am Kamp> are also affected.
negotiations on the rehabilitation center in Kapfenberg
The city of Kapfenberg and the VAMED are currently in negotiations on the future of the rehabilitation center located there. Mayor Matthäus Bachernegg emphasizes the importance of this facility for the city and would like to use the right of first refusal to prevent a possible sales scenario. For him it is clear: a deterioration for employees and patients must not occur. VAMED CEO Harald Steer supports this attitude and appeals to the federal government and municipalities to search for solutions that can ensure the continued existence of the facilities. In the coming weeks, the situation will continue to be observed and it remains exciting how the negotiations for the VAMED locations will be. The participants agree that the maintenance of the quality and availability of medical services has a top priority. For current developments, further information is find .
