Modern water rescue: Salzburg invests 150,000 euros in safety

The city of Salzburg supported the purchase of a state -of -the -art team transporter for water rescue with a financial grant of 150,000 euros. The new Magirus transporter is equipped with innovative technology, which includes, among other things, a diving robot, towing sonar and an underwater location system. These equipment features enable the creation of a GPS network for operations under water. The acquisition costs are 220,000 euros.

Salzburg Mayor Bernhard Auinger commented on support: "Rapid accessibility of the scene of the accident and modern technical equipment are for the water rescue of 'vaults'. Therefore, the 150,000 euros are well invested." With this investment, the search for missing persons in deep waters should be made more efficient and safer.

Frequent inserts of water rescue

By the end of November 2024, the Salzburg-Stadt water rescue has already completed 44 missions, which is a significant increase compared to the 33 missions throughout the previous year. The organization can count on the active support of almost 600 volunteers. Around 30 of them actively get involved in swimming training, while more than 20 members belong to the team.

Johann Biechl, the local position manager of the Austrian water rescue in Salzburg-Stadt, emphasizes: "We would like to thank you for the generous support and are very happy that we now have such a modern van with which we can provide help and live help professionally."

commitment in swimming training

Water rescue plays an important role in the city of Salzburg, not only for rescue operations, but also in swimming training. The members of the water rescue organize and conduct swimming courses for different age groups and provide swimming instructors for the city's school swimming projects. In the warm summer months, from mid -June to the beginning of September, they take over the bathing supervision at the Liefering swimming supervision on weekends.

The clear advantages of the latest technology and the personal commitment of the water rescue members help to increase safety in and on the water. This is particularly important because the number of operations has increased significantly and the demand for qualified water rescue is constantly increasing.
