MINT workshop in Bürmoos: Creative experimentation for young talents

Recently, a new opportunity for children and young people were launched in Bürmoos: the open MINT workshop, a project by the Leader and MINT region Flachgau-Nord. This initiative aims to offer young people access to the areas of mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology - known together as MINT. MINT subjects are now indispensable in the educational and professional landscape, since they form the basis for many later careers and also promote the technical skills of the participants.

After a successful start in Bergheim, where similar leisure activities have been offered on Tuesdays since May 2024, the citizens of Bürmoos can now also take part in this exciting educational offer. The workshops in Bürmoos take place every Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., except during the holidays, and offer the young participants the opportunity to try out in various MINT issues.

Development of new interests

The open MINT workshop is designed to introduce children and young people to new technologies and modern techniques with playful methods. Here you can take part in projects such as 3D printing, laser cutting and upcycling during the workshops or participate in thematic excursions. All of these activities serve to arouse a greater interest in the MINT subjects and further promote existing tendencies.

"The open MINT workshop is a great opportunity for our young people to discover the diversity and possible uses of the MINT subjects," explains Cornelia Ecker, chairwoman of the Leader Flachgau-Nord and Mayor of Bürmoos. "We are enthusiastic that this project can also be financed with the support of the EU, the federal government and the state." Participation in this facility is free of charge, the registration is simply made by email to region@flachgau-nord.at .

This initiative is part of a larger trend that indicates the need to promote technical and scientific skills in the young generation in order to strengthen their competitiveness. Such programs are essential in an increasingly digital and technology -driven world.
