Authorities stop migrants: 32 criminal records as the reason!

In a worrying incident in Seekirchen, Salzburg, a Turkish husband presumably started in a dispute at 4 a.m. in the joint bar on his 35-year-old woman with a kitchen knife. In doing so, he added a three to four centimeters long stab wound to her on the upper body. According to the information from Nön.at, the victim was brought to the Salzburg State Hospital by the Red Cross. The exact background of the dispute have so far been unclear, but both spouses seem to be the operator of the bar.

In addition, another case turns the flachgau headlines, which puts the authorities in a negative light. A Turkish man who met his wife online in 2021 wanted to move to her to Austria. For his application for a red-white-red card, he requested approval in order to be able to work as a welder in the metal industry. However, the Salzburg area district administration rejected the application in January 2024. The reason for this was the 32 criminal records the man on his Turkish criminal record, including violent offenses with knives and even an escape from prison, for which he was convicted in 2021. According to Krone.at, the authorities see a serious threat to public security in his entry.

Despite the complaint brought in by the Salzburg State Administrative Court, where the man expressed and promised to improve his life, the complaint was rejected. These decisions show the strict criteria used in Austria when entering migrants, especially when it comes to criminal records.
