Attention art fans: Belvedere plans large conversions and new exhibitions!
After a successful season, the famous upper Belvedere is closed for two years, starting in spring 2027. This decision was announced by General Director Stella Rollig, while she presented the extensive renovation project, which is to be realized with a budget of 35 million euros. At the center of this project is the creation of a modern “Visitor Center” in the historic castle in order to meet the steadily growing number of visitors. The groundbreaking ceremony for this prestige project has only recently taken place, such as Today. reported.
During the closure, some of the most important works, including Gustav Klimt-famous "kiss", are temporarily spent to Salzburg, where they are shown as highlights at the opening of the new Belvedere Museum. During this time, the lower Belvedere will offer a "compacted program" that presents art lovers a variety of special exhibitions. This includes the exhibition "The World in Colors. Slovenian Painting 1848–1918", which is realized in cooperation with the National Gallery of Slovenia, as well as a presentation about French Impressionism with works by artists such as Cézanne, Monet and Renoir. Further information on the upcoming exhibitions can be found on the official website of the Belvedere ( Belvedere.at ).
