Government plans to change: Minor employment in danger!

The Lower Austrian employee Association (NÖAAB) formulated five central claims to the federal government in the autumn of the previous year, which are under the motto "No performance- no money". These demands aim to initiate profound reforms in social security and labor market policy. Several of these claims have already been included in the government program and are now being implemented in the implementation, such as [ots.at] (https://www.ots.at/presseaus-sung/ots_20250519_ots0006/weitere-noeaab-magen-in-geringfuegige-beschaft-auf- der-Dem-Pruefand)

A central aspect of these reforms is the planned cancellation of the possibility of receiving minor employment as an additional income to unemployment benefit or emergency aid. This measure is intended to prevent unemployed people from being pushed into minor jobs and thus losing the incentive to return to regular full or part-time employment. The previous regulation made it possible for many, social service -dependent income to be achieved without seriously striving for a return to the labor market.

abuse and incentives in focus

The abolition of the additional service aims to protect the social system from possible abuse and to promote focus on sustainable employment. Financial support should only serve as a transitional aid until the next fixed employment. Critics complain that many recipients of social assistance in connection with minor employment are financially better than regularly employed. Therefore, it is also required to strengthen more personal responsibility and to encourage those affected to seek long -term solutions for their employment situation.

according to Haufe.de unemployed can generally perform slightly paid jobs. However, it should be noted that these income can shorten the unemployment benefit or citizen benefit that you can receive. However, short -term jobs are excluded for the unemployed. The limit value for the crediting of income in the event of unemployment is 165 euros for unemployment benefits and 100 euros for citizen allowance net. Income that lies above these free limits leads to corresponding cuts in the services.

The role of mini jobs in labor market policy

mini jobs, which represent one of the central forms of minor employment, are defined as employment with a monthly remuneration of a maximum of 450 euros or for a maximum of three months or 70 working days a year. This form of employment often serves as a bridge in the first job market. Nevertheless, it is criticized that such resolutions do not always result in employment subject to social security contributions, which is discussed by the bpb.de.

An additional problem is the so -called minor trap. The exceeding of the wage limit can lead to tax liability and loss of tax freedom. The number of mini -jobbers in Germany had grown to around 6.65 million in 2018, with a high proportion of these employment in private households, especially women. At the same time, the high proportion of older mini -jobbers is considered an indication of poverty in old age.

In summary, it can be said that the current reform efforts around minor jobs bring about both opportunities and challenges. The review of the conditions for mini -jobs and the intended restoration of performance justice can contribute to stabilization of the labor market in the long term and improve social security for employees.
