Pustritz triumphs: Fire brigade wins double district championship title!

Pustritz, Österreich - On May 31, 2025, the district performance competition of the fire brigades, which was eagerly awaited in the Pustritz sports center, took place in the municipality of Griffen. Organized by the fire brigade Pustritz and the District Fire Brigade Command Völkermarkt, a total of 35 competition groups took part in this event, which was ceremoniously opened by Deacon Josef. The competition included various categories, including bronze A, bronze B, silver A and the team performance competition.

A focus was on the disciplines of fire-fighting attack and the 400-meter relay race, in which the participants were able to demonstrate their skills. Particularly noteworthy was the implementation of the team performance competition, in which groups from active fire brigade members were drawn by chance - a measure that caused additional tension. The groups were drawn one month before the competition.

The results of the competition were remarkable. In the Bronze A category, the fire brigade won Klein St. Veit, followed by Rinkenberg and St. Margarethen ob Töllerberg. In Bronze B the first place went to the Rinkenberg fire brigade, while Pustritz and Loibach took second and third place. The Pustritz fire brigade was also able to triumph in the silver A category, followed by handles and Diex. In the team performance competition, the Pustritz fire brigade also secured first place, in front of Diex and reached.

The victorious groups will represent the Völkermarkt district at the upcoming state championship, which takes place on June 28th in meetings on Lake Ossiach. Mayor Ökr Josef Müller was proud of the performance of the fire brigades at the award ceremony and thanked the supporters, including the Red Cross for the medical service.

The event took place in the presence of numerous guests of honor, including Mayor Anton Napetschnig from Diex, the district competition officer Stefan Brodnig and the district police commander Klaus Innerwinkler. Commandant Johann Zwantschko presented gifts to the assessor team and paid tribute to their commitment. In addition, in 2026 the venue for the state championships will accommodate, which increases the anticipation for future competitions.

The successes and the high number of participants were also particularly honored by district fire brigade commander Werner Opetnik. He emphasized the motivation, which can be seen from such successful events, and already spoke of new goals for the coming year.
