Prince William surprised: King Charles' Playlist rocks unexpectedly!
Prince William recently visited the Mentivity House youth center in South London. During this visit, he was surprised by his father's taste in his father, King Charles III. Instead of classical music, William found a variety of contemporary titles on the Apple Music playlist "The King’s Music Room". The playlist includes songs by Kylie Minogue, Raye and Bob Marley. William had expected something else and was impressed by the generous selection of the monarch.
The director of the youth center, Adeyemi Michael, jokingly asked whether King Charles would also hear "Garage and UK Funky" tracks. William reacted humorously to this question and expressed that he was not sure whether his father even knew what that was. The mentivity house, which was founded in 2016, supports young people with mentoring, school help and warm meals of local restaurants.
King Charles and his musical preferences
King Charles III, often perceived in public as a pragmatic head of state, shows a more modern facet of his personality in his musical selection. The playlist, which includes songs from all over Commonwealth, gives deep insights into its preferences. This underlines the king's efforts to beat a bridge between tradition and modernity.
William, who also actively listens to music privately and uses Spotify to discover new artists, often takes time to speak to the young people and mentors in Mentivity House and gives private insights into his own life. Contact with youth is a concern for the prince, especially in times of the challenges that the British monarchy faces.
The British monarchy in change
The British monarchy has its roots in the Anglo-Saxon kings, and its modern form developed into a constitutional monarchy after the glorious revolution of 1688, in which Parliament was created as a central legislative organ. Over time, the role of the monarch became increasingly ceremonial and symbolic, like the current rule of King Charles III. shows. The monarch not only has to fulfill representative duties, but also sees itself constantly facing challenges, for example with regard to the perspectives of the monarchy in a changing society.
In addition to the ceremonies, the monarchy makes an important contribution to charity and represents the United Kingdom International. Nevertheless, the institution is repeatedly criticized, especially because of the high costs and questions about hereditary transmission. In a pluralistic society, some question the relevance of the monarchy, which the historical heritage, including the colonial heritage, further complicated.
The value of the British monarchy's assets is estimated at around £ 15 billion, while King Charles starts an inheritance of around £ 430 million without inheritance tax. The Crown Estate manages the possessions of the monarchy, whose profits are available to the state treasury and around 15 percent are used to finance official tasks.
In view of all of these challenges and discussions, it becomes clear that both the monarch itself and his family, including Prince William, have to play an important role in maintaining trust and openness within society.Details | |
