Pensioners fight for inflation: demands for immediate pension adjustment!

Lienz, Österreich - An exciting event recently took place at the Lienz Advent market when the local group Nußdorf-Debant of the Pensioners' Association Austria (PVÖ) took part in the "Lattlschießen" with 21 members. With a stick, the participants shot on a so -called "Lattle series". Among the participants was Herbert Salcher, who scored the highest score with 45 points and thus emerged as a champion. "It was a contemplative fun," said the chairman Günther Hatz about the exuberant mood. The event was supported by the referee Maria Rojko, who documented every goal exactly to avoid discrepancies, as Meinzirk.at reported.

economic challenges for pensioners

While the pensioners had fun in Nußdorf-Debant, the pensioner association is fighting against the high inflation in Austria. Although the inflation is statistically slightly back, the prices for food, electricity and rents are at a record level. The pensioners' loss of purchasing power has lasted for two years. The pension adjustments were omitted and not sufficient to withstand the increased cost of living. The last adaptation was only 5.8 percent and is not enough to pay the increased invoices. The Pensioners' Association calls for an increase in the increase in pension planned for 2024 to alleviate the financial burden for many seniors, as PVOE.AT explained.

In a time when energy companies recorded record -breaking profits and the cost of living at the same time, it is difficult for many pensioners to make ends meet. With demonstrations in front of the parliament and a clear appeal to the government, the pensioners are committed to ensuring that the planned pension increase of 10 percent will be paid out from July 2023 in order not to lose even more purchasing power. The strong backing of the ÖGB pensioners shows how urgently these measures are needed to secure the quality of life of the older population.
