Pope Francis: Participation in Easter celebrations continues to be uncertain!
Kolosseum, Rom, Italien - On April 17, 2025, the Catholic believers in Rome are devoted to the upcoming Easter celebrations. The central event, the traditional Cross Way procession at the Colosseum, takes place on Good Friday at 9:15 p.m. This year the procession is not directed by the Pope, since Pope Francis recovered from a serious pneumonia that has been heavily burdened by him recently. He had returned to the Vatican on March 23 after a hospital stay lasting several weeks.
The Way of the Cross of the Cross symbolizes the suffering of Jesus from his conviction to his death on the cross. Although Pope Francis wrote the texts for the meditations, the prayer is directed by Cardinal Baldassare Reina, which also increases the concerns about the Pope's state of health.
