ÖSV presents new trainers: Gredler and Diethart in action!
Vienna, Österreich - The Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) recently announced important changes in the trainer structure. Ludwig Gredler was appointed the new head coach of the biathlon men, while Thomas Diethart takes responsibility for the ski jumpers. These decisions are part of the strategy of the ÖSV to regain the top of the competition in international skiing and biathlon sports. Gredler, who is 57 years old, has an impressive career, including six World Cup victories and a long-term coaching experience that has lasted since 2008. He follows Vegard Bitnes, while Diethar, who is 33 years old, replaced Bernhard Metzler, who has resigned.
Christoph Sumann has already been installed as the sporting director of the biathletes, which underlines the structural changes in the association. ÖSV sports director Mario Stecher emphasizes the need to use different strengths and develop new perspectives. His vision is to bring the men's team to the top 6 nations in biathlon until 2028.
Future goals of the new coaches
Gredler plans to give a central role in the next Olympic Games and other international competitions. He strives to recapture the fifth starting place in the World Cup and bring young athletes to the top 20. He also sees the 2028 home World Cup in Hochfilzen as the goal of forming a powerful men's team. Diethart, on the other hand, wants every athlete to meet her individual potential in order to successfully cut off at the 2026 Olympics.
his commitment and motivation for the challenge are unbroken, despite the regret of the resignation of his predecessor. In recent years, the ski jumpers have positioned themselves strongly in the World Cup ranks, and Diethart is convinced that the team can fight for medals and podium places.
