challenges of the UEFA Women’s Nations League

The UEFA Women’s Nations League is a new, Biennal tournament that aims to promote women's football at an international level. The league consists of three leagues (A, B and C) with ascent and relegation options and a final that determines the champions. This tournament form is part of the comprehensive qualification processes for prestigious competitions such as the UEFA Women’s Championship and the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and it will be crucial for the teams who want to qualify for the upcoming Olympics.

The importance of the upcoming encounters cannot be assessed highly enough. National coach Christian Wück has also announced the squad of the German national women's team. His team will compete against the Netherlands in the Weser Stadium in Bremen on May 30, before it travels to Vienna on June 3. Wück emphasizes that the games are not only decisive for moving into the final Four, but also an important preparation for the European Championship.

Overall, the German players, led by returnees such as Lena Oberdorf and Kathrin Hendrich, are facing important challenges. These encounters offer the opportunity for both Austria and Germany to assert themselves in the UEFA Nations League and to develop under competition conditions.
