The anticipation for this year's Schubertiade is already noticeable! In Wels, the traditional music club goes into its new season and promises a festival for lovers of the Advent sounds. The Schubertiade, which shines with its now 20-year history, starts its program track, which extends into the spring.

The Christmas concert becomes particularly interesting on 9. December at 7.30 p.m. takes place in the St. Franziskus Church. This time the Nowacanto Choir and the St. Stefan church choir present a contemplative program under the title "Da Pacem Domine". After the musical performance, visitors can look forward to a special contribution to Lebenshilfe, which has rehearsed three songs. Michael Nowak, the chairman of the Schubertiade, promises a cozy atmosphere with punch and mulled wine - "everything that goes with such a concert".

This evening stands out by the fact that the revenue goes partly to the "Point of Ukraine" initiative, which supports talented Ukrainian musicians. Last year, the club provided a proud sum of over 2,000 euros for the soprano Maria Tkach. "It's always nice when you see that something like this is bearing fruits," explains Nowak.

for the 16. March 2025 , the new appointment for the festival concert for the 20th birthday of the Schubertiade, visitors can look forward to the “Stabat Mater” by Antonin Dvorak. In the Church Holy Family there will be a musical highlight with participating choirs and the Upper Austria Mozartensemble. The renowned Erwin Ortner, known as the founder of the Schönberg Choir, leads the ensemble.

An exciting end of the season is on 17. May 2025 at 7.30 p.m. celebrated with a sound fireworks in the Evangelical Church. Here visitors are expected from a swinging mix of trumpets, organ and percussion. "The name is program," says Nowak, "and we look forward to a colorful evening from the early centuries to modern music." The entire proceeds of the season of life aid benefit - with the exception of the song evening.

future planning

If you look into the future, the Schubertiade has already forged plans for 2026. A cooperation with the Kornsteicher Theater in Wels is, with the intention of carrying out three concerts annually, both vowel and instrumental. "This is really planned in the long term," says Nowak. The first concert under the motto "Wienerlei" will take place in spring; The exact details for this are still announced.
