In the heart of Upper Austria, an important award for health at schools recently took place. A total of 62 schools entitled "Healthy School" were honored, among them the elementary school from Hellmonsödt and the middle school in Reichenthal. This initiative is supported by the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK), the state of Upper Austria and the Upper Austria Education Directorate in order to raise awareness of health promotion in schools.

The decision to distinguish these schools is a direct reaction to the diverse projects that are implemented there. These include, among other things, the creative design of the classrooms, moved teaching units and nutritional workshops that aim to create a healthy school environment. "We are particularly pleased that the Upper Austrian schools accept our offer so numerous and actively live on site," explains Albert Maringer, the chairman of the ÖGK state office committee in Upper Austria.

At the awarding of the seal of approval, not only the structural measures were recognized, but also the positive development that they bring to the well -being of the students and teachers. "Health promotion in schools is important to create an environment in which pupils develop as best as possible and the teaching staff feel comfortable. The" Healthy School "seal of approval helps schools to design a healthy and positive atmosphere for everyone," says education director Alfred Klampfer.

In addition, Elisabeth Manhal, member of the state parliament, emphasizes the central role of schools in health education. "The school plays a key role in terms of health promotion. That is why we want to give our children the necessary tools to have the necessary tools in order to have the best and healthy quality of life into old age through a healthy lifestyle."

The "Healthy School" award was thus characterized as an appreciation for the committed work of the teachers and the participation of the students. The concept not only promotes physical health, but also the psychological and social development of the children, which ultimately contributes to a holistic concept of school education.
