The Austrian and Lower Austrian State Championships took place in the half marathon in the picturesque Mozart city of Salzburg last weekend in the picturesque Mozart city of Salzburg. Numerous talented runners from the Waldviertel were also on site to prove themselves in a gripping competition. "The only challenges were the small climbs on the bridges over the Salzach, which disturbed the running rhythm a little," said Anna Holzmann. Despite a slight training deficit due to a flu infection, all three runners had optimally exhausted their potential and got numerous medals.
In the team competition, the LC Waldviertel team won the title of the Vice State Champion. Holzmann prevailed with a time of 1: 29.25 hours and secured the national bronze in the general class, and also achieved silver and bronze space in her age group. In the same group, Weissinger had to give up after 1: 30.52 hours and still received the W35 national bronze. Hengstberger rounded off the success of the women with a time of 1: 43.04 and the bronze space in the W50.
But not only the ladies were successful; The male athletes also showed remarkable achievements. Klaus Enengl from Zwettl won the ÖM bronze and national silver in the M60 with a time of 1: 26.57. Michael Neuwirth, also from Horn, competed in the M35 and moved with an impressive time of 1: 18.44 via the finish line, which secured the silver medal.
