Past rediscovered: memories of disappeared everyday objects

In the Lembach library, an interesting narrative round with Resi Girlinger took place. The participants, a group of curious Lembacher, went on a nostalgic search for everyday objects that have been forgotten over time. These were not lost books, but old devices that were replaced by modern technology, such as a transistorradio or a mechanical typewriter. These objects aroused many memories, and the participants shared exciting anecdotes from their youth.

The three children received special attention, who also took part in the narrative round. The historical objects were completely unknown to them. They had the opportunity to experiment on the mechanical typewriter and use the selection pane of an old phone. It was a completely new experience for the children, because everything nowadays happens quickly and easily via smartphones or laptops. The question arose: "How can it be that these things were so important for our everyday life 50, 60 or even 70 years ago?"

interactive memories

The conversations were not only about the objects themselves, but also for the music of the time. The participants sang old hit, which they had heard on the transistorradio as a teenager. The exchange about the tight connections between these objects and the personal stories of those present led to a lively dialogue. "It was just nice to remind you," noted one of the participants.

The narrative round was not only an opportunity to look at old things, but also a platform for cross -generational exchange. The feedback from the participants speak for themselves - a successful event that shows how much technology has changed our lives and how important it is to keep the little everyday memories alive. The participants, including the children, was given the opportunity to explore the past in a refreshing and interactive way through this enriching experience.
