25 years of rescue dog squadron Munich: An anniversary full of heroes
Munich (ASB)-This year the ASB rescue dog squadron Munich is celebrating a remarkable anniversary: 25 years have passed since the season was launched. This long time is not only a sign of consistency, but also for the valuable work that the season has done.
Since its foundation in 1999, the Munich rescue dog squadron has established itself as an indispensable partner in action for the police. With a specialization in the search for missing persons in different areas of application - from searches for surfaces to mantrailing to ruins - the season becomes active annually in around 40 missions. Examples of their successful work include the missions after the tragic collapse of the ice rink in Bad Reichenhall in 2006 and the support after the building explosion in Rohrbach in 2021.
The importance of engagement
originally started with only seven members, the season now has 23 committed members who, together with their dogs, contribute to saving life. Anke Boysen, who has held the management since the founding of the season, emphasizes the community spirit: "I believe that we have continued to develop in the past 25 years. We keep hearing that we have a really good team spirit in the relay. That is our strength."
In recent years, not only has the number of members have increased, but also the technology and the training of the rescue dogs have made enormous progress. In the past, the emergency services were alerted via telephone chains, which was often very time -consuming. Today, on the other hand, the alarm happens promptly and efficiently via an app that informs all members at the same time. Such technical innovations not only accelerated the operations, but also improved the quality of the missions.
The dogs used also benefit from extensive advances in training. Nowadays, many dogs that may not have been suitable for use can be trained as qualified search dogs. This shows how serious those responsible for the ASB Munich take the further development of their work.
The ASB rescue dog squad in Munich is not only an example of volunteering, but also for the continuous improvement in rescue technology and training, which directly contributes to saving human life.
