Together against violence: rectification of flags and education in Perg
On November 25, the city of Perg once again had a flag in front of the city office to draw attention to the international campaign "16 days against violence against women". This campaign is carried out annually and aims to point out the problem of violence against women and girls.
The chair of the women's counseling Perg, Gertraud Jahn, illustrated the serious statistics: in Austria there have been 27 female female this year. However, these tragic incidents are only part of the problem. Gabriele Schauer, head of women's counseling, urged that many other violent incidents remain unmentioned and that the number of bans and rapprochement bans in the district of Perg has also increased.
prevention approaches and social change
A crucial step in the fight against violence is prevention, which also indicate the current initiatives. Projects such as “Stop” are intended to help anchor violence prevention in schools and kindergartens and include men in dialogue. Mayor Anton Froschauer emphasized that violence on women affects all social classes and therefore has to promote society as a whole.
for Dagmar Engl from the Greens, it is essential that despite the tight remedy, the prevention work is not saved. Erich Wahl (SP) was pleased with the progress in the women's shelter in the lower Mühlviertel, which is under construction. An event that meets great interest is the lecture "When is a man a man" by Richard Schneebauer, who takes place on December 5 at 6 p.m. in the Stöger confectionery and can be visited free of charge.
