Increasing unemployment and falling areas: Linz-Land in focus
In Linz-Land, the latest figures for the labor market service (AMS) Traun show a worrying increase in unemployment. At the end of September, a total of 3,489 people were registered as unemployed, which corresponds to an increase of 15.7 percent compared to the previous year. The statistics show 1,637 women and 1,852 men among the unemployed. This leads to an estimated unemployment rate of 4.7 percent, which means an increase of 0.6 percentage points at the same time in the previous year.
Despite a relatively stable employment Situation with 69,982 dependent employees in the district, which is 107 less than in August, there is also a decline in vacancies. This is confirmed by the head of the AMS Traun, Michaela Billinger, with the statement that only 2,288 vacancies are currently registered - that is 719 less than in the previous year. This development is to be regarded as alarming because there are fewer job opportunities.
tension on the apprenticeship market
The apprenticeship market is affected by similar challenges. The number of open apprenticeships has dropped to only 173, which corresponds to a decline of 60 compared to last year. At the same time, the number of apprenticeship seekers rose to 192, which represents an increase around 89 compared to the previous year. Billinger comments on this, but explains that the AMS is working intensively to convey suitable positions for job seekers and to improve the situation on the apprenticeship market.
The difficulties on the labor market in the Linz-Land district are clear: a decline in the vacancies with increasing unemployment requires targeted measures. The concerns and challenges of those affected require that both state institutions and the economy work hand in hand to accelerate integration into the labor market and maintain economic stability in the region.
