New parish center in Kirchdorf: Meeting point for the community is created

Kirchdorf an der Krems. The rectory in Kirchdorf needs a comprehensive renovation that has been in the room for some time. The parish council worked intensively on a concept to transform the rectory into a modern parish center. The goal is to create an inviting meeting point for the community that is located right next to the church.

In the heart of the new project, a meeting room will be created, which is to be used as a central place for various events such as the popular parish coffee. The first floor of the building is reserved for the office space, while two group rooms and a large hall are planned on the second floor. This conversion will significantly enrich the use of the rectory and offer the community new opportunities.

In autumn 2023, the design plans were successfully presented. After valuable feedback from the building authority and the Federal Monument Office, the makers of the project have made adjustments to take all requirements into account. The revised plans will be presented on the second weekend in Advent after the services in the parish church of Kirchdorf.

The start of construction of the parish center is planned for the first half of the year. Preparations are already in full swing. The rectory was successfully handed over in summer, and the parish offices are already housed on the upper floor of Schiedermayrstrasse 19. This opened new premises to the groups who previously met in the rectory. The Catholic young group, one of the active groups, meets, for example, in the Evangelical parish of Kirchdorf and enjoys a warm picture.

Jakob Haijes, the chairman of the parish council, emphasizes the importance of the project and refers to the necessary financial effort. "Such a future -oriented project must also be financed, which is why we look forward to any support for it," he says. In order to collect the necessary funds, the parish of Kirchdorf will be present with a sales stand on the first weekend in Advent at the "Advent am Dom" event.
