Large exercise in Pasching: Fire brigade and emergency services save injured
On Friday, November 22nd, an intensive exercise in Pasching took place at Wagner Stahl. A loud bang and clouds of smoke signaled the start of this large -scale exercise for fire brigade and emergency services. The aim was to "explosion in Hall 6 - several injuries!" to test the responsiveness and teamwork of the participants involved.
The exercise started with a fictional accident in which an electrical forlasser developed smoke during the loading work when the driver tried to take off several gas bottles. A sudden interruption of electricity led to a dramatic escalation because the driver was unable to secure the bottles or extinguish the fire. There was quickly explosions that sparked a fire in the hall and required a dramatic rescue operation.
rescue under difficult conditions
When the first firefighters arrived, the situation became even more critical. A construction worker who was on the hall roof was cut off from the escape route and threatened to crash due to the rising smoke. However, the local emergency services were able to save it with the help of a turntable ladder at the last second. At the same time, several slightly injured employees walked around in panic, which increased the challenges for the emergency services.
Inside the hall, the respiratory protection teams fought against dense swaths of smoke and flaming flames again and again. The seriously injured forklift driver was found quickly and safely brought outside. In addition, the emergency services managed to save a total of four missing employees who had hidden in an office and in the operating area by using escape hoods.
While the rescue measures took place, a comprehensive fire -fighting attack was also coordinated. The firefighters fought against the fire from outside via feed lines and numerous jet pipes, while the respiratory protection teams continued to work under difficult conditions. Thanks to the establishment of a medical aid point (Sanhist) through the Red Cross directly on the site of the company, injured persons could be cared for immediately before they were removed.
Dominik Wögerbauer, the trainer of the Pasching fire brigade, expressed his thanks to everyone involved for the smooth running of the exercise. He emphasized the crucial role of cooperation of all organizations in such operations. This exercise also represented an important learning process for young managers from the fire brigade and the Red Cross.
This demanding exercise not only demonstrated the high level of operational and professionalism of the emergency services, but also emphasized the need for regular training under realistic conditions. In addition to the fire brigades Pasching and Traun, the Red Cross Traun and a press team from the district fire brigade command Linz-Land also took part in the exercise. In addition, eight extras acted as injured and affected people to make the scenario more realistic. Further details on the exercise can be found in an article on www.tips.at are read.
