Fashion house Eberl is expanding to Wasserburg: A new chapter for men's fashion
In the heart of Haag, the fashion house Eberl is an integral part of retail, and it is currently being restructively restructured. Despite the challenges with which many retailers are confronted, Eberl is actively expanding and is planning to open a new location for "Eberl Man" in Wasserburg. Michael Goetzke, the managing director and owner, is determined to beat the online competition and offer its customers a unique shopping experience.
"We want to keep our level", emphasizes Goetzke, while a clearance sale runs before the planned renovation in January 2025. In the spacious business, which comprises an area of around 1,000 square meters, he wants to create a niche for male buyers in everyday life with the new concept "Eberl Man". The first location of this brand was opened in Haag in 2014, and now the focus is on the expansion to Wasserburg. According to Goetzke, the opening of the new branch is expected in March 2025 after the former premises of the fashion brand Esprit are extensively renovated.
unique concepts for modern customers
Goetzke has a clear goal in mind: "I see a gap in needs for men's fashion and we want to use this room," he said. The managing director looks optimistically into the future and plans to design his range in such a way that it meets the needs of modern men. "There is an exciting concept in which everyone will find it," said the 39-year-old.
Behind the scenes, Goetzke has developed an extensive concept based on personal advice and a positive shopping experience. In addition to high-quality fashion, customers also receive individual services such as color and style advice in the Eberl fashion house. In addition, an in -house tailoring company is offered that takes off the business from the competition on the Internet. "We want to offer people a place where they can not only see the product, but also touch," explains Goetzke.
The background of the expansion are complex. Goetzke, who is active in family business from childhood, took over the fashion house after retreating its parents and gave him a modern coat of paint. Despite the numerous crises that retail has experienced in recent years-be it the Covid 19 pandemic or inflation-"the business is going quite well," he assures.
Goetzke is convinced that regular modernization is necessary to remain competitive in the retail environment. His parents already won this view, who were always open to innovative ideas. "It is important not to stand still. You always have to rethink and adapt the concept," says Goetzke.
personnel stability in the lamp light
The fashion house currently employs around 30 people, including trainees who work in a family environment. Goetzke emphasizes that he is “currently not affected” by the shortage of skilled workers, since many employees have been working in the company for a long time and have a strong bond with the company. "We maintain a very family work environment; our employees are almost like a big family," he adds.
Christian Flamm, chairman of the "Haag active" association, is enthusiastic about the modernization initiative: "This is a clear commitment to the location". He recognizes a "crowd puller" in the constant presence of the Eberl fashion house in the community. Flamm also refers to the advantages of inpatient trade, in particular the opportunity to personally experience the products offered on site, which cannot compete with online shopping.
In times when inpatient retail is confronted with various challenges, Goetzke shows with his planned conversion and expansion to Wasserburg that creative ideas and fresh swing are possible in the traditional business area. It remains to be seen whether the new strategy works, but Goetzke is determined to offer its customers an attractive alternative to online trading.
